LUCÍA DE LEÓN, FUNDAP Education

This is the story of Lucía de León, a young woman who participated in the Scholarships for Girls project for 6 years, trained with FUNDAP and who has continued her career studying and helping her family.Lucía de León, a young woman with a positive and dynamic attitude, has stood out as an example in her community, demonstrating that with determination one can achieve one’s dreams. For six years she participated in the ‘Scholarships for Girls’ project, always showing dedication and effort in her studies. Despite facing the challenge of limited economic resources, from an early age she worked alongside her parents in the fields and learned the trade of painting threads for typical costumes. This job allowed her to continue her studies, covering her own expenses.

The desire of her parents, Don Oscar and Doña Liliana, is for their daughters to become professionals. Therefore, they must combine work in the field with domestic chores to support the family. Thanks to this joint effort, Lucía managed to complete primary education and junior high school.

Driven by her goal, Lucía took a home electricity course for a year, which provided her with income to save and continue her studies in 2025. Her dream is to become a professional electrician.

Both Lucía and her parents are grateful for the opportunity provided through the Scholarship project. In this process, Lucía recognized the importance of study and continuous learning. Furthermore, thanks to the training provided by the project, she developed skills such as sociability, leadership and the ability to face the challenges that life presents her.
